Manual
Sales
Sales covers everything from a customer’s first quote to the money in the bank: who the customers are and what they pay, the documents that sell to them, and the receipts that settle what they owe.
The flow
| Step | Document | What posting it does |
|---|---|---|
| Offer | Sales Quote | Nothing: a quote isn’t posted. Make Order or Convert To Invoice turns it into one. |
| Agree and deliver | Sales Order | Ship takes the goods out of stock; Invoice bills them; Ship and Invoice does both. |
| Bill at once | Sales Invoice | Post ships and bills in one go. |
| Give credit | Sales Credit Memo | Takes back part or all of a posted invoice. |
| Take goods back | Sales Return Order | Receive puts them back in stock; Credit credits the customer. |
| Get paid | Cash Receipts, or Receipts on an order or invoice | The bank goes up and the customer’s balance down. |
At Passion Bakery, most days Aisha posts a sales invoice for each supermarket’s delivery and one invoice to Walk-in Customers for the shop’s takings, paid into the shop’s till. Joy Events and Catering orders birthday cakes on a sales order, shipped and invoiced when they are baked.
