Manual
Assembly orders
An Assembly Order makes a quantity of one item at one location. Open Assembly Orders and choose + New; the order is numbered from Assembly Order Nos. on Inventory Setup (AO… at Passion Bakery). The list shows the newest orders first.
The header
| Field | What it is for |
|---|---|
| No | The order’s number, given when it is made. |
| Item No. | The item to make. It must have an assembly BOM, else the order says to set its components up on the item’s card first. Choosing it fills the Components from the BOM. |
| Description | The item’s description. |
| Quantity | How many to make, in the item’s base unit. The components follow it. |
| Unit of Measure | The item’s base unit; it can’t be changed. |
| Location | Where the components are taken from and the item is put. It can’t be an in-transit location. A new order takes Inventory Setup’s Default Location. |
| Posting Date | The date it is posted on; today for a new order. |
| Estimated Cost | What the components cost at their unit cost today. Posting takes their actual cost. |
The Dimensions group has the order’s dimension codes, taken from the item; posting carries them to every entry.
The components
The Components below the header are the order’s lines:
| Field | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Item No. | The component. |
| Description | Its description. |
| Quantity per | How much of it goes into one unit of the item made. |
| Quantity | How much of it the order takes out of stock: Quantity per × the order’s Quantity. |
| Unit of Measure | One of the component’s units. |
| Unit Cost | The component’s unit cost today, in that unit. |
| Estimated Cost | Quantity × Unit Cost. |
How the components follow what you change:
| You change | What happens |
|---|---|
| The order’s Item No. | The components are taken afresh from the new item’s BOM, for the order’s quantity. |
| The order’s Quantity | Each component’s Quantity becomes its Quantity per × the new quantity. |
| The order’s Location | Every component is taken from the new location. |
| A component’s Quantity per | Its Quantity follows. |
| A component’s Quantity | Only that line changes, as when a batch took more flour than the recipe says. |
You can also add a component on the blank row (any inventory item but the item being made) or delete one. The changes are the order’s alone: the item’s BOM stays as it is.
The order for the next bake
The training company starts with an order for the day after the bakery’s last day: 250 white loaves at BAKERY, department PRODUCTION. Its components are:
| Item No. | Description | Quantity per | Quantity | Unit of Measure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RM000001 | Wheat Flour | 0.5 | 125 | KG |
| RM000003 | Sugar | 0.03 | 7.5 | KG |
| RM000008 | Dry Yeast | 0.008 | 2 | KG |
| RM000009 | Salt | 0.008 | 2 | KG |
| RM000010 | Vegetable Oil | 0.02 | 5 | L |
| PK000001 | Bread Bag | 1 | 250 | PCS |
Its Estimated Cost is about 575,000, some 2,300 a loaf, depending on what the ingredients cost on the day.
Actions
| Action | Group | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Post | Action | Posts the order: see Posting assembly. It asks first, and has Preview Post. |
| Assembly BOM | Navigate | Opens the BOM of the item the order makes. |
| Attachments | Navigate | Files kept with the order; they go to the posted order. |
Deleting an order deletes its components with it.
