Date formulas

A date formula moves a date. Payment Terms use one (Due Date Calculation) to work out a document’s due date from its posting date, and an account schedule’s Comparison Date Formula uses one to move a column’s dates, such as to the same period last year.

Terms

A formula is one or more terms, each a number and a unit, joined by + or -:

UnitMeansExample
DDays30D: 30 days later
WWeeks2W: 14 days later
MMonths1M: the same day next month
QQuarters (3 months)1Q: three months later
YYears-1Y: the same day a year earlier

C with a unit, instead of a number, is the end of the current one, and -C its start:

TermMeans
CWThe end of the week (weeks run Monday to Sunday)
CMThe last day of the month
-CMThe first day of the month
CQThe last day of the quarter
CY31 December of the year

Terms are applied from left to right. A month later than the 31st is the month’s last day. Spaces and lower case don’t matter: 1m + cm is kept as 1M+CM. A blank formula leaves the date as it is.

Examples

From an invoice posted on 14/10/2026:

FormulaDue dateUse
0D14/10/2026Cash on delivery
14D28/10/202614 days
30D13/11/202630 days
1M14/11/2026One month
CM31/10/2026End of the month
1M+CM30/11/2026End of next month
CM+15D15/11/2026The 15th of next month

In an account schedule column, -1Y compares a period with the same period a year earlier, and -1M with the month before.

Date formulas are not the date shortcuts typed into date fields (t, t-1, 1401). Those are in Dates.
